Starting June 1, local businesses will introduce special products or services in support of Rock the Waves, with a portion of proceeds going to the fundraising campaign.
The countdown runs from June 1 until June 25, the new facility’s official ribbon cutting ceremony.
Half Hitch will be donating proceeds from our weekly cask nights for the entirety of Rock The Waves!
The Town of Cochrane identified the need for a larger aquatic facility when it developed the Parks, Recreation and Culture Facilities Master Plan in 2008. With a steadily growing population, and the current pool seeing over 4,000 people for lessons each year, it was obvious to Council and administration that the Town wold soon outgrow the current facility.
A feasibility study was conducted in 2009 that gathered information from similar municipalities, local stakeholders and through a local phone survey. The feasibility study results led to a cost estimate in 2010, and a draft schematic design in 2011. Provincial budget funding was identified in 2012 and a fundraising campaign was identified as another source of funding.
The Town of Cochrane is working with Rocky View County to support a facility that will service Cochrane and area residents, as well as neighbours in Rocky View County.
